OJJDP’s National Training and Technical Assistance Center (NTTAC) Management and Subject Matter Expert Services

The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) provides national leadership to address issues of juvenile justice and child victimization through research, grants, and training and technical assistance (TTA). OJJDP created the National Training and Technical Assistance Center (NTTAC) in 1995 to coordinate resources and providers, increase TTA responsiveness to constituent needs, and promote the use of best practices and standards in TTA assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation.

Technical Assistance to Rural SEAs, Districts, and Grantees

MSG provided customized technical assistance to state educational agencies and middle and high schools to support designing and implementing effective school dropout prevention and reentry programs. Working with rural communities in states such as Alaska, Arkansas, Maine, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, and West Virginia, MSG convened technical work group meetings, planned and executed national meetings, and developed outreach summaries, webinars, and dropout prevention toolboxes.

Workforce Demographic Data Quality Technical Assistance

The project was an effort by DOL to assess its quality in program data reported by states, mitigate challenges presented by incomplete data, and take steps to improve the quality and scope of data collection. MSG staff assessed the needs of the WIOA programs, gathered best practices in data quality, and developed TA products for WIOA programs to use to improve demographic data quality throughout the public workforce system.

Technical & Logistical Support Services

MSG provided technical and logistical support services for the National Assessment Governing Board to ensure strong collaboration across committee members and staff, clearly communicate its work to the public, and foster buy-in from varied stakeholders. MSG provides content area expertise to conduct assessment framework reviews, produces analytic reports using National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) data, and shares findings with the general public.

Supporting Effective Educator Development (SEED) Program

MSG provided comprehensive support to the Office of Innovation and Improvement for the Supporting Effective Educator Development (SEED) Program. MSG provided support for pre-application meeting; secured grant panel reviewers; set up forms and assigned reviewers, applications, and monitors to panels within G5; provided oversight during the electronic review process; and prepared application data for data.gov.

Student Achievement in Reading (STAR)

MSG worked with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Career & Adult Technical Education (OCTAE) to support their goal of expanding and supporting evidenced-based reading instruction in regional and local adult basic education programs that fulfill select state requirements under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. MSG designed and delivered intensive training and technical assistance to streamline the trainer certification and recertification process by developing and delivering 30 online modules and face-to-face meetings.
