About MSG Cares
MSG values the communities in which we work. MSG Cares is an employee-led, multi-faceted initiative that supports nonprofit programs making a difference in areas aligned with MSG’s work, including homelessness, education, workforce development, food and nutrition, and the environment. Guided by our social capitalism philosophy, which emphasizes growing our business while creating a positive social impact, MSG Cares promotes employee volunteerism, empowers local organizations, and extends support to communities around the world.
Encouraging Employee Volunteerism
The MSG Cares committee unites employees through meaningful volunteer opportunities and community initiatives. Each year, staff participate in hybrid volunteer events and a winter fundraiser that collectively raise thousands of dollars for partner organizations. Highlights include writing encouraging notes to students and preparing backpacks with essential school supplies, as well as an annual charity walk near the Lincoln Memorial that brings employees closer as a team. These initiatives strengthen our community and empower employees to make an even greater difference through MSG’s corporate matching program, which amplifies the impact of every contribution.
Empowering Local Organizations
Our nonprofit partners embody MSG’s values, including integrity, compassion, and accountability. Our staff embrace the nonprofit partners, which enables us to experience positive social change that comes from collective action. Since we founded MSG Cares, we have supported more than a dozen organizations. We select partners based on staff interests and suggestions, as well as deliberations by the MSG Cares committee. In addition to three local partners in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area, we also collaborate with two national organizations for those interested in supporting causes beyond our region. These organizations address a broad range of issues, including homelessness, food insecurity, youth empowerment, cancer research, and more. We remain committed to making a meaningful impact in the local DC, Maryland, and Virginia community by connecting with organizations that align with MSG’s mission and philosophy.
Supporting Global Populations
Our philanthropy extends beyond borders to support children, youth, and families globally. In 2018, MSG Cares partnered with The Citizen’s Foundation to build a school in Karachi, Pakistan that provides free education to approximately 109 students in grades 6–10. MSG has also supported the Patient's Aid Foundation in building a new nephrology ward at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, delivering dialysis services to thousands of patients each year.
