NSF SEES Portfolio Evaluation

Funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), MSG conducted a comprehensive mixed-methods study to evaluate the effectiveness of the Science, Engineering, and Education for Sustainability (SEES) initiative in advancing interdisciplinary research and education for global sustainability. MSG designed a multi-part evaluation plan that included a historical review of NSF’s sustainability efforts, comparative analyses of SEES program outcomes, and a network analysis to assess cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Distance Learning Dataset Training

MSG worked closely with National Center for Educational Statistics (NCES) to design, develop, and implement seven common and 22 dataset-specific training modules on the topics of acquisition, analysis, interpretation, dissemination, and reporting of statistical data reflecting the condition and progress of education at all levels in the U.S. and on educational activities and student achievement compared with foreign nations. MSG also conducted a thorough review of the Distance Learning Dataset Training system and individual training modules and implemented comprehensive enhancements.

21st Century Community Learning Centers Evaluation

MSG collected data and performed site visits across New York-based 21st CCLC programs and evaluated program participants’ academic and behavioral outcomes. Using best practices in program evaluation, MSG assessed the effectiveness of the regional Resource Centers in supporting the 21st CCLC program implementation. Following the evaluation procedures, MSG produced reports summarizing their findings and generated a Professional Development protocol based on the evaluation results.
