USDA Field Reviewer (California or Massachusetts)

About the Role

Manhattan Strategy Group (MSG) is hiring part-time Retail Store Reviewers to conduct in-person store reviews in or near your city of residence. In this role, you’ll visit retailer locations to document store conditions, count staple food items, take required photos, and create a simple sketch showing the store’s general layout. You’ll follow standardized procedures and upload your completed work to our secure system for review.

What You’ll Do:

  • Complete required online training (initial and refresher) on project procedures
  • Travel to assigned retailers within your preferred radius (typically with a few days’ notice)
  • Introduce yourself to the store manager/owner and present official credentials and documentation
  • Work with store staff to collect required survey information
  • Observe and document store conditions and processes using project guidelines
  • Take required photos throughout the store using your smartphone
  • Measure store dimensions accurately
  • Create a simple electronic sketch of the store layout
  • Upload photos and survey results through a mobile website or desktop platform
  • Follow review protocols and meet required deadlines

Additional Duties (Occasional):
Participate in periodic trainings and/or team meetings

What You’ll Need:

  • Reliable high-speed internet and access to a computer
  • A high-quality smartphone or digital camera (no more than 3 years old)
  • Ability to upload data and photos online from mobile or desktop
  • Willingness to travel locally to stores in and around your area
  • Comfort traveling to locations that may be high-crime or difficult to access
  • Ability to stay calm and professional with store staff, even in challenging situations

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be 18+ years old
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Strong communication and customer-service skills
  • Organized, dependable, and detail-oriented
  • Flexible and able to shift priorities in a fast-paced, changing environment

Physical & Work Environment:
While performing the essential functions of this role, the Reviewer may be required to move throughout the store environment to conduct evaluations, remain in a stationary position for extended periods while observing, measuring and documenting, position themselves to access store items at varying heights, and travel to and from assigned locations. These functions can be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
