MSG wins a five-year award to enhance family engagement in 21st CCLC programs

MSG has been awarded a five-year contract to support the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Elementary and Secondary Education in providing technical assistance to support family engagement in 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) programs throughout the nation.

MSG will implement and support the Family Engagement Resource Providers (FERPs) contract to build a national collaborative system of support for family engagement that is linked to student achievement.

“Family engagement is vital to student success,” said, Dr. Sally M. Wade, MSG’s Project Director. “We are excited about working with these wonderful 21st CCLC programs to engage families in ways that tap into the powerful influence families have on student outcomes.” There is over 30 years of research that links family engagement to positive student success.

MSG will review the research literature, conduct a comprehensive needs assessment, provide technical assistance, host webinars, identify resources, and make policy recommendations. Ten regional FERPs spread throughout the nation will provide technical assistance and training to State Departments of Education and 21st CCLC programs.

This contract signifies MSG’s ongoing commitment to the 21st CCLC program. MSG has previously supported the program through work designing the You For Youth website; developing best practices guides in literacy, science, math and technology; and conducting program improvement evaluations.
