MSG is proud to announce that it will be supporting the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) Employment and Training Administration’s Career Pathways Initiative.Career Pathways is a workforce development strategy that support workers’ transitions from education into and through the workforce. This strategy has been adopted at the federal, state and local levels in order to increase education, training and learning opportunities for America’s current and emerging workforce.
A career pathways initiative consists of a partnership among community colleges, primary and secondary schools, workforce and economic development agencies, employers, labor groups and social service providers. MSG’s efforts will provide technical assistance on career pathways and credentials to formula grantees, state and local workforce investment boards, and discretionary grantees. It will also strengthen ETA regional and national staff capacity to provide “just in time” interventions and technical assistance on career pathways and credential attainment to formula and discretionary grantees. The overarching objective is to improve the public workforce system’s capacity to serve the expanding number of American workers who are in need of postsecondary credentials and pathways to middle-class and family-sustaining jobs. This effort will position ETA as a broker of expertise on solutions to the barriers that non-traditional students face in obtaining postsecondary credentials.
Shezad Habib, MSG’s founder and Managing Partner, noted that “the adoption of career pathways could not come at a more critical time for the nation’s economy. MSG is excited to be at the forefront of this adoption and look forward to our work helping to connect American job-seekers with prospective employers.”
