|Our training division helps our clients enhance the capabilities of their staff, managers, and stakeholders so they can focus on achieving their mission and objectives. MSG’s training programs incorporate best practices in adult learning, knowledge retention, and instructional design for classroom, virtual, and hybrid instructional models. |
Our training products include practitioner guides, virtual training courses, learning simulations, and interactive modules. Our team of experienced and innovative instructional designers and training architects work hand-in-hand with web developers, programmers, and SMEs to create robust training programs and products to meet our client’s needs.
At MSG, we focus not only training design but on implementation – we understand that providing a solution broad enough to address all instructional needs while still being flexible enough for a learner or grantee to tailor the learning experience to her own needs is critical to the success of the program.
|In all training engagements, MSG provides a team of staff and consultants who bring dozens of years of subject matter expertise. This team is able to quickly identify learning needs, translate technical data into an easily digestible format, and coordinate with our Instructional Systems Designers (ISDs) to design an effective training solution.|
MSG strives to design instructional strategies that best meet the needs of the grantee audience. This includes the effective use of content presentation, knowledge checks, scenarios, evaluation techniques, and downloadable support tools. In addition, MSG specializes in the use of flexible, cost-conscious solutions, including the use of programs such as Articulate Storyline and Adobe Captivate.
Training Module Development
In developing training modules, MSG follows an instructional systems design (ISD) methodology to ensure learning needs are accurately analyzed and identified, appropriate instruction is designed and developed, an instructionally excellent solution is implemented, and a plan for evaluating the success of the training is established. Our recent work spans the U.S. Department of Labor financial management process as well the implementation of the new Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.
Coaching and Facilitation
The MSG team includes a cadre of experienced coaches, who are prepared to facilitate learning across a wide variety of domains. We strive to provide coaching that is flexible to client needs, consistent across multiple engagements, and focused on learning and results.
Computer-Based Training & E-Learning
MSG has extensive experience conducting evaluation, redesign, and conversion of instructor-led training to a computer-based curriculum, including developing content- and skill-specific modules and certification exams. The team also has expertise developing online resources including e-learning, user guides, toolkits, and communities of practice where users can create, support, and disseminate materials customized for their audiences and stakeholders.
Learning Objective Identification
Accurately defining learning objectives is critical to the long-term success of all MSG training projects. As such, we work carefully with our clients to identify existing training materials, analyze any competency gaps, and develop a vision for trainee knowledge and understanding. This insight helps us to build critical learning objectives into our training that are both achievable and measurable.
MSG has experience in both planning and conducting primary and secondary research; expertise in study design and implementation, including sampling, data collection, analysis, and reporting; and relevant teaching and training expertise conveying statistical concepts directly related to analysis of large federally supplied datasets to a variety of audiences. The team has developed and implemented dataset training exercises in R, SAS, SPSS, and Stata that demonstrate the methodologies required to appropriately import, recode, weight, and analyze complex sample survey data. MSG is currently working with National Center for Education Statistics to develop computer-based training modules to ensure that NCES complex sample survey data can be used more effectively.
MSG is experienced with developing assessments for both computer-based and in-person trainings that accurately reflect learner gains. We utilize the information to ensure that a learner is ready to progress to the next module, as well as to inform our own development process.
MSG recognizes that high-quality training is only as effective as the audience it reaches, and leverages our Communications specialists to ensure extensive training reach. We are experienced in developing audience profiles that help us customize communications to reach those who will be most receptive to them, thereby ensuring that our dissemination efforts are both wide reaching and also result in measurable learning gains across the target audience.
