|Our organizational improvement services help our clients improve the effectiveness of their programs, operations, and systems. MSG has helped hundreds of public and private sector organizations improve the efficiency of their operations through a variety of techniques, including the analysis of performance measurement data, interviews and focus groups with executives and employees, the collection of best practices and benchmarking data from peer organizations, and rigorous process improvement efforts.|
By customizing our solution to meet the needs of each client, we have helped a wide range of partners, including the U.S. Departments of Agriculture, Interior, and Treasury, the General Services Administration, and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, as well as dozens of private sector organizations.
Senior Program Associate
MSG’s organizational improvement efforts are very rewarding, in that they enable our clients to create clear organizational goals, develop effective strategies for communicating with internal and external stakeholders, implement metrics and systems to effectively measuring success, and truly empower leadership and employees to implement data-driven solutions which meet organizational challenges head-on.
|Manhattan Strategy has a structured approach to conducting organizational assessment and process improvement efforts, and a methodology that has been tested across many engagements. Through a variety of primary and secondary research methods such as in-person interviews and literature reviews and the use of standardized protocols and electronic tools, we capture the necessary insights to enable leaders to understand the current state of their organization and understand the factors that should be addressed to enhance the effectiveness and performance.|
Manhattan Strategy is also an expert in analysis and recommendations, often bringing best-practices and subject matter expertise that help guide leaders on how to implement the necessary changes within their organization.
Our benchmarking services help clients to frame a point of reference against which their operations may be assessed. The firm was recently contracted by the U.S. Department of the Treasury to develop a benchmarking methodology and tool that will enable Federal agencies to compare the performance and cost of managing transactions in-house against the industry leaders, the Federal shared service providers (SSPs).
Best Practices Research and Analysis
MSG’s best practice research uses a blend of both qualitative and quantitative research. Our approach is modified as needed to meet the objectives of individual clients and projects and is guided by several core principles, including: clearly defined research objectives and terminology, customized research design, and a focus on data to dissemination. The firm has completed multiple best practices projects for the U.S. Departments of Education, Labor, and Treasury.
Process Improvement and Re-Engineering
Our process improvement efforts help our clients to identify, analyze and improve existing business processes within their organization to meet new goals and objectives. Specifically, MSG excels in working collaboratively with clients to define and build future processes and metrics to measure performance as well as developing tools and reporting systems to capture those metrics and support future processes.
Human Capital Assessment and Planning
A well-trained and well-managed workforce is critical to the achievement of our client's missions. MSG provides comprehensive human capital assessment and planning to ensure that workforce capacity is maximized.
Performance Measurement System Design
Our approach to performance measurement is tailored to the particular business requirements of each of our clients. One highly successful example of performance measurement system design in our work with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The firm was recently commissioned to develop recommendations for adjusting the Office’s current examiner production goals, metrics, and measurement systems to better align with the Office’s strategic goals. The resulting system ensured that patent examiner performance goals better reflected the current state of the Office’s workflow and the demands placed on examiners.
MSG excels at designing data systems that are more efficient and effective than their predecessors at collecting, analyzing, and reporting data – as well as supporting those who are users of the system. The firm recognizes that those stakeholders often have varied context-specific needs (i.e., backgrounds, objectives, interests, experiences, and expertise), and applies our continuous communication and iterative feedback process to ensure that the users of our data systems are considered at every phase of the work – from design through use.
Strategic planning helps our clients to identify and take measurable steps towards their stated objectives. Our work with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services serves as a tangible example of this type of organizational improvement. The firm was responsible for facilitating the development of the Family and Youth Services Bureaus first Strategic Plan, as well as follow-up plans that enhanced program alignment and collaboration; oriented managers in performance measurement and strategic planning requirements; and fostered agreement on plan content.
